News From the Men's Sport's Committee-June 2016

Summer has arrived, the weather is getting warm, even a little HOT as we approach our bigger tournaments. Member-Member has a great turnout, and I'm sure the competition will be fantastic.  Member-Guest is only a month away.....hope for those that want to participate, you turned in your application.

Not much to report on....Men's Night's are still having tremendous turnout, averaging over 110 golfer's each week.  Thank you for your participation and support.

For this month, just a couple of reminders for making this wonderful game, more enjoyable for everyone.  With the unbelievable conditions that our course is in (many, many thanks to Kirk and his staff for making that happen, and the members who help on work night's and on their own time doing numerous tasks for the betterment of our course), we need to try to keep what we have going.

First item, please fix your ball marks on the greens. One of the best signs I have ever seen said:

Fix your ball mark and one other.

The repair time for ball marks not fixed is up to 3 times longer, and often leaves a "depression" that affects the ball rolling smoothly.

Bunkers

The other item is raking of bunkers. You see it at many golf courses, not just ours - a player walks in, hits the shot, maybe rakes where the ball was struck, then walks out a different way, leaving 2 sets of footprints un-raked. This only penalizes players in the groups behind. Please try to enter and exit the same way, rake the strike spot as well as the footprints in and out. This will help make the game more enjoyable for everyone.

Pace of Play

Going forward, the Sports Committee is going to look at Pace of Play, and ways we can better serve our members and guests for improving pace of play, hopefully resulting in more enjoyment for all.

We appreciate everyone's efforts....  enjoy this great game we are all fortunate to be able to play!
