Did You Know?

By the summer of 1942, the effects of the Great Depression, combined with World War II had reduced the membership to just 28 stockholders and 14 members. In the spring of 1943, the board voted the inevitable, and closed Proctor-Pittsford until conditions improved.

The course remained closed until the spring of 1946, with volunteers maintaining the course as best as possible, at their own expense, and whenever gas was available due to war-time gas rationing.

Henry Duskett

Former Club Manager and Pro, Henry Duskett enlisted and posted a sign on the pro shop that read:

"Closed. Gone to Hitler's funeral-Henry"
