Clean Up Day a Tremendous Success!

On behalf of the board of directors, Kirk & his staff, and the Greens Club, we want to thank everyone who volunteered this spring as we prepared the course for opening day this week.

A special thanks to Al Roberge who organized a crew to help with pre-cleanup during the month of March. The volunteers included Mike McNally, Lynn Smith, Richard Mihlrad, Randy Ouelette, Ernie Pierce, Gina Vitagliano, Karl Ronn, Don Tuttle, Bob Aronson, George Lesznik, and Rick & Rob Del Bianco. The crew put in over 100 hours in picking up tree branches, blowing & raking leaves and running the Toro blower, as they cleaned the entire course from holes 1-18. Thanks to their work we were able to hire Intrinsic Properties for 3 hours on Friday prior to clean-up day to come in with their large leaf vacuum to remove leaves along holes 2 &16 in the tree line, along the 10th hole and up by the road at the top of the 16th hole. We then dragged 14 tarp loads of leaves from the 15th hole bank and bunker into the woods there.

Saturday was a tremendous success, as over 40 volunteers showed up, young and old, to complete the course clean up. We raked and blew debris from the chipping green to the secondary parking area all the way to the 17th green. Chad Fox and Randy Ouelette took several trailer loads of debris to the burn piles.  We cleaned up the entire tree line on the 16th hole, as well as blew out bunkers and picked up piles on the 13th,14th and 9th hole and more, as we tried to beat the fast-approaching rain. We also got a chance to blow leaves along the entire right side of the 12th hole into the woods.

Landy Danforth ran the beverage cart, and the kitchen staff provided us with an awesome lunch as we finished up by 11:30 just as the rain started. With all the tree trimming that was done this year I think the course is in the best shape it has ever been in!  Now we just need mother nature to cooperate with some warmer temperatures and some sunshine.

One final shout out to Ray Thill, a super senior member who made a very generous donation to the Greens Club this year, and for those who have not bought their tickets yet, they are available online and on sale in the pro shop.

Enjoy the golf Season!!
