News From The Barn - 5/21/25 - Kirk Abrahamson
I have one request and one story for you today.
First, as the summer season begins, I would remind everyone that the front side is closed every Wednesday after ladies' night. This is the evening I do most of my pesticide applications. There will also be other nights where I will close the front at 7:00pm. Signs will be posted. Thank you for your cooperation.
Here is my story.
I had just finished playing a round and had just sat at my favorite Redfield stool for an iced cold diet coke. I just finished sweeping a couple ticks off the bar because I had just spent the last 3 hours and 17 minutes looking for my tee ball where only the ticks live.
With the pain of carving that painful round still etched on my face I noticed a member sit down next to me. To protect his identity, I won't reveal Gordons last name. Like all my friends, Gordon knows I can be a little sensitive about criticism. He attempts to buy himself a little leeway by every year giving me a sleeve of pink pinnacles.
So, he blurts out "How come there are so many crooked pins"? I was in no mood for a discussion, so I replied, "Sometimes the soil temperature makes it difficult to set pins".
After a lengthy pause and a very awkward moment Gordon said " I know you are retiring soon, your replacement has caterpillar shoes to fill.
Don't forget to smile a couple times a day.
