News From the Barn - 6/3/25 - Kirk Abrahamson

Last December, due to my behavior throughout the year, I was pretty sure I needed to buy my wife jewelry for Christmas.  So I was in the jewelry store when I noticed there was a magic wand for sale, but it was expensive.

So, in the world according to Kirk, I thought if I took advantage of that two for one sale on vacuum cleaner bags, my wife would have two presents to open for Christmas instead of one.  Plus, I would use the wand to wave at the greens in April and turn them into Member-Guest condition.

I learned two things from that experience:

First, vacuum cleaner bags wrapped around your neck are very uncomfortable.

Second, you can't wave a magic wand at the greens in April and expect nice conditions, it's a process.

When the process begins, and how quickly it takes largely depends on Mother Nature.  One thing we can all agree on is that she been a bee-atch this spring.  I know everybody gets anxious and wants the greens to be as fast and smooth as possible, but it just requires patience in the Northeast.

This May, I heard a comment meant to be helpful, not mean.  All I could think of when I heard that was that it would be like bringing a chocolate cake to your first Weight Watchers meeting. Nice thought, but no..

As I was nearing the finish of the process, we had just sanded and someone asked me,  "Are you going to roll tomorrow?"  I said no, they are not ready yet, plus we have rain coming soon, so it will be awhile.  He looked at me like I had two heads.  I guess if you added up all my chins, it's not a reach.

Anyway, in the world according to Kirk, I just have to ignore all the outside noise and just follow the process.

Don't forget to smile a couple of times a day,

Kirk

P.S.  Good news about the magic wand.  It should work on the greens next April.  I just put the batteries in upside down.
